MDF Mouldings Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why choose MDF mouldings?
A. MDF mouldings are durable, consistent in size and are free from natural defects making them an ideal alternative to softwood mouldings, plus they come already white primed ready for painting.

Q. What sizes and profiles are available?
A.  Ridgeons offer a wide range of MDF profiles from Ogee or Torus skirting and Architrave to bull nose window boards. Thickness varying from 12mm to 25mm, widths from 44mm to 168mm (145 - 295mm for windowboards) and typically 4.2mtr lengths.

Q. How are the MDF mouldings finished?
A. Our MDF mouldings come twice primed as standard with a minimum of two coats of a high solid content water-based white acrylic paint. Skirting and architraves are then spiral wrapped in polythene film for protection.

Q. What are FSC & PEFC?
A. FSC is the Forest Stewardship Council and the PEFC is the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification. Both FSC and PEFC are committed to achieving the certification of forests to credible, independently verified standards of responsible forest management. Find more information on FSC and PEFC here.
