Ridgeons Timber and Builders Merchants first started trading with the sale and distribution of timber & sheet materials back in 1911. More than a century on as timber suppliers, it remains a fundamental part of the business. Continual investment keeps Ridgeons at the very forefront of the industry. This included a modern timber mill and increased warehousing at Ridgeons Forest Products, Herringswell.

With a dedicated Forest Products team, working in partnership with selected suppliers we are able to maintain a very high standard of quality and consistency. Stockholding and in house timber processing takes place at the purpose built 12 acre Ridgeons Forest Products site at Herringswell.

Ridgeons offer over 200 planed and moulded sections including skirting’s, architraves, matchings and floorings, precision machined by our own highly trained staff. Also stocked is a range of MDF mouldings, sawn joinery, garden landscaping, decking and fencing timbers. Carcassing ex-stock range includes Ridgeons structural joists and studs, dry strength graded machine regularised with corners eased.

EN 314-2:1193 Plywood
(Bond) Class 1: Suitable for dry interior use only.
(Bond) Class 2: Suitable for use in humid areas or exposure to occasional wetting
(Bond) Class 3: Suitable for unprotected exterior use or exposure to frequent wetting

EN 636: 2003 Plywood
(Specification) Class 1: Suitable for dry interior use only

Hardwood faced BB/CC Grade Plywood (Poplar Core) EN636-2  EN314-2
A far Eastern Plywood with red/white face veneers. They are suitable for exterior use only when protected and the edges have been sealed.

Brazilian Virola BB/CC Grade Plywood EN636-2  EN314-2
Brazilian plywood with hardwood red/white veneers. Available in over-size sheets.
They are suitable for exterior use only when the edges have been sealed.

Hardwood Faced Plywood
Imported Marine Grade Plywood EN636-3  EN314-3
A durable hardwood faced plywood suitable fascia’s, bargeboards and boat interiors, but not for use on boat hulls. It can be varnished, stained or painted.

Birch BB Grade Plywood EN636-2  EN314-2
Close grained plywood, with a light face veneer. It is available in cross-grain board’s ex-stock and long grain boards to order. Birch is the best painting grade plywood.

Chipboard P5: P5 flooring grade moisture resistant chipboard specified by NHBC
Chipboard Protect: Made from moisture resistant P5 flooring grade chipboard it provides double protection against moisture ingress.
Peel Clean Xtra: Manufactured from moisture resistant P5 flooring grade chipboard it provides strong surface protection.
Decorative Protect: As Chipboard Protect but with a unique decorative wood grain finish.

Insulation
Insulation Board: A fibre insulation board for internal use such as ceiling linings
Sundeala K: Ideal for panelling, wall linings, ceilings and pinboards.

Hardboards
Standard Hardboard: For wall and ceiling linings, panelling, partitions, joinery etc
Perforated Hardboard: Mainly used for shop displays and acoustic applications
Surface Coated: Used for shop displays, kitchen and furniture units
Oil tempered: High strength and increased water resistance

Plasterboard
Plasterboard comes in a wide variety of options, but is basically an inner layer of gypsum stuck between two outer layers of lining paper, glued together with an additive. Options available range from standard plasterboard to; Fire resistant, Moisture Resistant, Reinforced Plasterboard.
