Breathable membranes are an essential part of the roof structure in that they allow the roof to breathe. Breathable roof membranes can be used under tiled or slated roofs, in warm or cold roofs.
Generally roofing membranes help transfer moisture from the roof, provide a wind barrier and provide a temporary weather protection.
Building regulations now encourage energy efficient building methods and as buildings are becoming more insulated the result is an increase in water vapour or condensation in the loft. Therefore the use of breathable roof membranes is on the increase.
