Roof flashings are found on most external areas for the house, but most commonly the roof. Any object that rises through the house to the roof will have a flashing of sorts; Windows, vents, chimneys etc.
Roof flashings provide a watertight seal, stopping rain water running for instance down the chimney or even into the interior of the house.
Roof flashings used to be made from lead sheet, nowadays zinc, rubber, plastic are used. Unless a Roof Flashing is fitted properly, rain water will find its way into the property.
