Starts 1st July - 30th September
At Ridgeons you will find the complete range of sand for your building project including; Soft washed building sand, Building Sand, Sharp washed building sand, Plasterer's sand, and Kiln-dried paving sand.
Building Sand / Washed Building Sand
They both look quite different with Building Sand containing an even small grit, whereas Washed Building Sand contains a larger aggregate. Building Sand is mainly used for brick laying and pointing. It can also be used in rendering plaster as it is flexible and smooth. Washed Building Sand offers more strength but is less flexible. It can be used dry under block paving for driveways and patios, screeding floors or fine concrete rendering.
This is a finer grade sand than Building Sand making it ideal for a fine plastering finish.
Kiln Dried Sand
This is primarily used for joint filling block paving and slabs. All moisture has been removed to prevent water ingress seeping into paving joints which can cause a patio or driveway to sink. The sand should be used when the driveway or patio is completely dry.
